Eating Out While Having Gluten Intolerance

If you happen to be suffering from gluten intolerance, eating out can get quite tricky. You obviously can’t eat any regular bread or pasta However you may start to get confused when a bowl of salad is delivered to your table.

Those Chinese Chicken and Asian Mango mixed salads may look particularly appetizing, but you should not get fooled by the looks. Such pre-mixed salads typically contain salad dressings that have binding agents and modified food starch. Generally, such dressings contain gluten. This is the reason why it is best for you to order those that have dressings of lemon or lime juice, olive oil, or the regular wine vinegar and oil when you go for a salad. This way, you know you are always safe.

Try to avoid those creamy and sumptuous-looking and smelling pasta dishes, not unless you go to a restaurant which caters to the special needs of people who are gluten intolerant. However if you go to a regular restaurant, then you must steer clear of pasta dishes since they are usually filled with gluten. Additionally, the sauce may contain ingredients that have gluten like the additives.

Furthermore, when you plan on eating out, you should never forget that all cream soups contain gluten unless stated otherwise. Foods that are creamy or have thick consistencies usually contain starch or thickening agents that have gluten.

In order to avoid any danger when you are eating out, always educate yourself about what foods to eat and which ones to avoid beforehand. Rather than focusing on food that you cannot eat, focus on foods you can actually eat and enjoy.
