Q&A: I have just been diagnosed with Celiac disease and also just found out I am pregnant.

Question by : I have just been diagnosed with Celiac disease and also just found out I am pregnant.
This is my third pregnancy after two miscarriages. I am terrified at the idea of another miscarriage, especially that I have not yet started the gluten free diet. Is it too late to save this pregnancy?

Gluten intolerance (and celiac is just the best well known type of this) has been found to cause miscarriage in some women. So you have a great incentive to go 100% gluten free – because it won’t just impact your own life expectancy but the life expectancy of your child.

Why haven’t you started the gluten free diet? It’s vital you start immediately. Gluten is poison, not just for you, but potentially for your child, as well.

A study has shown that celiacs that cheat or don’t follow a gluten free diet have a correspondingly shorter lifespan. They did this by taking blood tests, so they knew who cheated, even when they did not admit it.
