With celiac, how long after not eating gluten will I start to feel better?

Question by addie: With celiac, how long after not eating gluten will I start to feel better?
I was diagnosed with celiac last week. I stopped eating gluten right away. How long does it take for everything that was making me feel bad to get out of my system? And, does anyone have any advice. This seems like such a drag. Thanks.

Hi! It can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks (or longer!) to really see improvement, but that varies depending on your age (the younger u are when diagnosed, the better) and how true u are getting gluten out. Even many experienced Celiacs accidentally eat gluten often and its very tricky to get it all out. Please feel free to email me for further help but I think you’ll find these sites and books helpful for a newbie Celiac! 🙂
