Celiac disease occurs when the body interacts to gluten, a food substance commonly found in wheat, rye, barley and oats. When an individual is suffering from celiac disease and accidentally eats foods containing gluten, there will be an inflammatory response in the small intestine which damages soft tissues and thus will give poor digestion of foods and impairs the ability of the system to absorb all the nutrients.

Celiac disease treatment focuses primarily on a person’s diet. A gluten free diet must be maintained and observed in order for the disease not to occur. One can find a lot of gluten free products or foods in the market. There are already plenty of food bakers and food manufacturers who make gluten free products such as cookies that now come in different flavours.

Although the cause it still unknown, the most important thing to remember when having this disease is to always make sure that the food we eat is gluten free that way we can prevent onset of the disease. Maintaining this strict diet is very important and should really be complied.
