Can I use Gluten Free Bisquick instead of Better Batter GF Flour?

Cece Campbell Asked: Can I use Gluten Free Bisquick instead of Better Batter GF Flour?

Ahh, well I checked my supplies too late and realized I was pretty much all out of my Better Batter Gluten Free Flour (all purpose flour). I called my local stores, but of course they don’t have any (I always order it online), however they do have Gluten Free Bisquick (I use this stuff for pancakes, waffles, etc.) and I was wondering if I would be able to substitute the Bisquick for the Better Batter. I am going to be making some pigs in the blanket. The ingredients are Rice and Brown Rice Flour, Tapioca Starch, Potato Starch, Potato Flour, Pectin, Xanthan Gum for the Better Batter and Rice Flour, Sugar, Leavening (baking soda, sodium aluminum phosphate, monocalcium phosphate), Modified Potato Starch, Salt, Xanthan Gum for the Bisquick. I’ve made pie crusts out of this Bisquick, so don’t be misled by the sugar in there. Are those ingredients close enough to substitute with?

It all depends if you want a soft shell for the outside or if you want more of a flaky kind of shell around the outside like a biscuit.

GF Bisquick will make fine pigs in the blanket. Following the recipe for biscuits and cut them into long strips to wrap around the mini hot dogs.
